Why an Excel tracker stops working for production work
A spreadsheet is a fine place to start. It stops being enough when several people edit it, jobs wait on client approvals, and nobody can tell at a glance what has not moved. The usual failure points are:
- Stuck work is invisible. A row that has said "In review" for a week looks the same as one updated this morning.
- No history. You cannot see who changed a status or when, so "it was Done yesterday" cannot be checked.
- Copies and versions. Several people keep their own copy and the numbers drift.
- Files and links live elsewhere. The cut, the brief and the client feedback are scattered across drives and chats.
What Bridge X keeps from Excel
- A spreadsheet-style task table with inline editing, grouping, sorting, search and column choice.
- Import from .xlsx or .csv, and export back to .xlsx at any time.
- Your own columns and vocabulary: unfamiliar statuses and names are mapped during import instead of rejected.
What Bridge X adds
| Capability | Excel or Google Sheets | Bridge X |
|---|---|---|
| Days a task has sat in its status | Manual column | Calculated and shown on every task |
| Blocked tasks with a reason | Free text if someone remembers | Dedicated Blocked status with a reason field |
| Review stages | Typed labels | Internal review and Client review statuses, plus To do, Doing, Done |
| Change history | Version history of the whole file | Per-task log of status and field changes |
| Links and files on a task | Hyperlinks in a cell | Attachments panel with links and uploaded files |
| Overdue alerts | None | Automatic overdue reminders to the assignee |
| Board view | No | Six-column board alongside the table |
How to move from Excel in four steps
- Open Tasks and choose Import, then upload your .xlsx or .csv file.
- Check the suggested column matching: title, status, owner, project, due date.
- Review the preview. It shows what will be created, updated or skipped, and flags statuses, people and projects it could not match.
- Confirm. If anything looks wrong, undo the whole import in one click.

Who it suits
Teams and agencies with roughly 5 to 50 people running many parallel projects, where review rounds and client approvals are the usual source of delay. See also project management for teams and agencies. Pricing is on the plans page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bridge X a replacement for Excel?
For tracking project tasks, yes. You get a spreadsheet-style table you can edit in place, group, sort and search, plus a board view and an export back to .xlsx. What a spreadsheet cannot do is the part Bridge X adds: it records how long each task has sat in its status, shows why something is blocked, keeps a history of every change and attachments on each task, and sends the assignee an automatic reminder when a task goes overdue.
Can I keep my existing Excel tracker?
Yes. You upload the .xlsx or .csv file, Bridge X suggests which column is the title, status, owner, project and due date, and shows a preview of exactly what will be created or updated before anything is saved. Blank cells never overwrite existing data, and every import can be undone.
What happens to statuses and names that Bridge X does not recognise?
The import preview lists them and lets you map each one: an unfamiliar status to one of the six task statuses, a name to a team member, a project name to an existing project or a new one. Your choices are remembered for the next import.
What kinds of teams use Bridge X?
Any team or agency that tracks projects and tasks. The task tracker is general-purpose, and the review stages (internal review and client review) and the blocked status with a reason suit agencies and creative production teams especially well.
How much does it cost?
Team is $29 per month for up to 20 people, Business is $79 per month for up to 50 people, and HR Portal is $39 per month for up to 100 people. Billing is charged in Indian rupees through Razorpay. A free demo with sample data needs no card.
Who builds Bridge X?
SR Creative Productions, a creative production agency in Mumbai, India. It started as the tracking system the agency needed for its own client work.
